Akosua Manu Reacts to Demolition of Modern Toilet Facility She Commissioned Less Than 48 Hours Ago

Former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Akosua Asaa Manu, has condemned the demolition of a modern toilet facility she commissioned a day ago by officials of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).

According to her, the act goes beyond an attack on infrastructure.

“It is an attack on community development, public health, and the dignity of the people,” she said in a Facebook post as she expressed her dismay and disappointment.

She suspects that the act was conducted in bad faith and geared towards intimidating and sabotaging her efforts to help the community.

The unsuccessful New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Adentan Constituency on April 22 commissioned a four-seater toilet facility in Adjiringanor.

According to her, it was in response to the urgent sanitation needs of residents.

“This facility was constructed in direct response to the urgent sanitation needs of residents who, for years, have lived without access to a decent and hygienic place of convenience. The excitement and relief that greeted its commissioning yesterday have now been cruelly truncated, leaving the community in shock.”

She is determined to get the facility restored and has thus urged residents to exercise restraint.

“I urge residents to remain calm as we pursue the appropriate channels to ensure justice is served and the facility is restored.”
