LPG Marketers Anticipate Impact Of Drivers’ Strike

The Vice President of the LPG Marketers Association, Gabriel Kumi, has anticipated the impact of a declared strike by Petroleum Tanker Drivers- drivers under the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union.

In an interview on TV3 Midday News, he said the country would see long queues at the various Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) outlets by Wednesday and an acute shortage by Thursday if the concerns of the drivers are not addressed immediately.

“If this is not averted as immediately as possible, it will have some crisis on the supply of gas. Presently the stock we have in our hands could run out in the next 48 hours.

“If by Wednesday this situation is not averted, we will have queues at our LPG retail outlets. If that persists to Thursday and Friday, movement of people and goods and services is going to be grounded.”

This, he said, will take a toll on the economy.

Petroleum Tanker Drivers on Monday laid down their tools over poor road network linking the Tema Oil Refinery to the Kpone road, Graphic Online reports.

The Chairman of the union, George Teye Nyaunu, said their decision will last until their grievance is addressed.
