ADASS Shooting: I’m Liaising With Ablakwa to Send Victim Abroad For Treatment- Asenso Boakye

The victim in the Adventist SHS shooting incident, Suzzy Penamang will soon travel abroad to seek further medical treatment for her eyes which have “suffered severe extensive damage”, the Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, Francis Asenso Boakye has announced.

Hon Asenso Boakye says he is liaising with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to get the necessary paperwork done to send her abroad.

“Following an extensive medical assessment, doctors have confirmed that Suzzy has suffered severe damage to her eyes. The family has expressed a desire to seek advanced treatment for her abroad.”

“In support of this, I have been actively working with them to obtain the necessary travel documents, including her passport and visa. I have also engaged with the Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who has been incredibly responsive and has demonstrated a strong willingness to assist. He has requested certain supporting documents from the hospital, which I am currently working to provide.”

Rebuttal
This was contained in a statement rebutting a viral video claiming the lawmaker had relented on his promise to absorb the medical treatment for the 16-year-old by a woman purporting to be the mother of the victim.

The former Works and Housing Minister noted that he offered financial support to the family after learning about the incident.

Additionally, he said through an arrangement between himself and the hospital, all medical bills have since been taken care of, ensuring that the family bears no cost for her care at the hospital.

He furthered, “Regrettably, a video has surfaced on social media featuring a woman making claims that no assistance has been rendered to Suzzy and her family by me. I have since spoken with Suzzy’s brother, Clement, who has been my primary point of contact throughout this process. He informed me that the woman in question is not known to the family and expressed his concern over the misleading nature of her statements.”

Commitment
He further affirmed his commitment to the rights and welfare of children thereby acting with care and discretion when a child’s well-being is at stake.

“Public commentary and social media banter must not come at the expense of a vulnerable child’s care and recovery. I appeal to everyone, including those engaging online, to prioritize Suzzy’s best interests and exercise restraint in their public remarks. I assure you that much is being done behind the scenes to assist with her care and recovery.”
