Military Must Stay Away from Akwatia By-election- Nana B

The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has stated that the military must have no place in security enforcement in the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
According to him, the Inspector-General of Police has committed to providing the needed security and must adhere to it.
“The police, as part of their internal security obligations, are responsible for the security of this election, and so the military should stay away. We urge them to stand their ground and maintain peace during the Akwatia elections.”
“Again, the IGP gave a firm commitment that 5,000 police personnel would be deployed for the Akwatia elections and that the police would not need the presence or the intervention of the military in the Akwatia by-elections.”
This comes after sighting military presence in and around Akwatia since August 24.
He warned, “Ghana has already dropped six (6) places on the 2025 Global Peace Index and cannot afford any further insecurity, especially one sponsored by the ruling government.”
