Plans Are Far Advanced For Teachers Recruitment- GES
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that a recruitment exercise for new teachers across the country is imminent.
In response to one of its Facebook followers’ question on when the exercise will take place, it responded that plans are far advanced.
It also added that it will be conducted immediately after financial clearance is granted by the government.
“Immediately, we’re given financial clearance. Plans are already far advanced.”
Meanwhile, the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Dr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, has revealed that there is a backlog of 71,000 teachers who have completed training awaiting employment in the public sector.
This, coupled with the backlog of nurses, security services or other ministries, will consume about 47 per cent of the total revenue of the country when they are immediately recruited, he told Graphic in an interview.
