Ghana’s Tariq Lamptey Undergoes ACL Reconstruction After Tear

Ghana international Tariq Lamptey has undergone an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in the left knee after he experienced a tear over the weekend.
The defender made his full debut for Fiorentina on Sunday; however, it lasted only 22 minutes before he hobbled off with a knee injury against Como, which ended in a 2-1 defeat.
A statement by his club, ACF Fiorentina, said he was subjected to a series of clinical and instrumental tests starting from Monday, 22 September.
These tests include static and dynamic tests in order to make the diagnosis.
“Given the complex clinical picture, this morning, a diagnostic arthroscopy was carried out by Prof. Mariani. The surgery showed an isolated tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee.
“The type of injury, however, made it necessary to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament, which was perfectly successful.”
The Black Stars player is expected to return to Florence in the next few hours to begin the established rehabilitation process.
