GKMA Sanitation Project: Kwadaso Municipal Hands Over Sites to Contractors

The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has handed over sites for construction of decent and ultra-modern toilet facilities for institutions without toilet facilities in the area at a stakeholder’s meeting on Wednesday 15th February 2023.

The Project is in line with the Sanitation and Water Resource Ministry’s vision to address the open defecation menace in the quest to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal Six by 2030.

Speaking to Opemsuo News after the short ceremony, the Kwadaso Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Richmond Agyenim Boateng, welcomed the project and noted it is a manifestation of the benefits from decentralization and equitable distribution of the national cake in the ideas of President Akufo-Addo.

He was hopeful and particularly excited about the fact that the project when completed will boost enrolment of pupils in schools within the Kwadaso Municipality. The issue of open defecation in the area shall be a thing of the past at the completion of the projects, according to him.

The JKMA Project Coordinator, Ing Gabriel Eingman said the six contractors who successfully went through the bidding process and the stakeholders including Assembly Members have been taken through the requirements as well as the do and don’ts to kick start the project.

“We are hopeful that in the next six months, they would have completed construction and we can take over and let the students and hospitals use the facilities for a period of three months within which any defect will be resolved”, he stated with respect to the project timeline.

Among the institutions to benefit from the project are; Prempeh Experimental, Kwadaso M/A, Kwadaso, Asuyeboah, Apatrapa Health Center and Kwadaso SDA Hospital.
