Meteors Wrap Up Training Tour With Resounding Victory In Zamalek FC Friendly

The Black Meteors thrashed Egyptian premier league side Zamalek FC in a 4:1 victory on Tuesday’s friendly.

A hat trick from Emmanuel Yeboah contributed to Ghana’s victory.

Starting for Coach Ibrahim Tanko were Jordan Amissah, Ebenezer Adade, Nathaniel Adjei, Godwin Bentil, Emmanuel Yeboah, Terry Yegbe, Sylvester Simba, Hafiz Ibrahim, Emmanuel Appau and Edmund Arko Mensah.

Exactly 11 minutes into the game, Yeboah put Ghana on the scoresheet at the Zamalek Sports Complex but it wasn’t long until the Egyptians equalized.

Yeboah made it two for Ghana nine minutes later and extended the lead in the 41st minute. Emmanuel Appau’s spot kick found the net two minutes later.

Before recess, the hosts got a penalty but failed to convert it into a goal after goalkeeper Jordan Amissah’s beautiful save.

The second half was hit with a goal drought after an attempt by Zubairu was ruled out as offside.

Ghana’s victory comes after the Meteors drew against the Pharaohs of Egypt on June 15 at the Alexandria stadium.

The Meteors will leave Egypt for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco scheduled for June 24 to July 7, 2023.
