NPP’s NASARA Activities Should Cover All Settler Communities – Aspiring Organizer
Aspiring Ashanti Regional NPP NASARA Organizer, Abubakar Razak, has called for a broader understanding of NASARA to ensure that its activities cover all settler communities across the country, rather than focusing mainly on Zongo communities.
Speaking in an interview with Kofi Boakye on Nkwantannanso on Opemsuo Radio, Mr Razak said NASARA, which serves as the NPP’s wing for Zongo and settler communities, was originally intended to reach all settler groups across the regions.
He explained that the way the concept has been interpreted over the years has resulted in NASARA’s activities being concentrated largely in Zongo communities and among Muslims.
According to him, this narrow focus has created a gap in some communities with significant settler populations, where the NPP continues to struggle to attract votes.
“NASARA is supposed to cover all settler groups across every region. However, due to the style of leadership and the way the concept has been understood, its activities have largely been narrowed to Zongo communities,” he said.
Mr Razak said the situation prompted him to engage the Council of Elders and some founding members of the NPP to help broaden their understanding of the concept and its implications for the party.
He explained that his engagements revealed that some party leaders had already identified the issue but lacked the necessary explanation to fully understand the broader role NASARA could play.
“I realised that it was something they had already thought about, but they did not have someone to properly explain the concept and its implications to them. I therefore provided them with an explanation of the broader concept and shared my findings with them because I had identified this as a gap,” he said.
He said after engaging the party’s elders and founding members, he also took the issue to delegates to help create a better understanding of NASARA’s intended scope.
Mr Razak maintained that broadening NASARA’s activities beyond Zongo communities could help the NPP engage more effectively with different settler groups and strengthen its support base in communities where the party has struggled to secure significant votes.
