Govt Releases ₵462m For Six-month Nursing Training Allowance

The Ministry of Health says ₵462 million has been released by the government for a six-month nursing student allowance.

This will support the training of 120,000 nursing students across the country in fulfilment of a key commitment by President John Dramani Mahama during his election campaign.

Subsequent payments to students started on July 17 and are expected to continue through to next Friday.

According to the Ministry, this will improve the welfare of nursing trainees and sustain the motivation of future health professionals.

“It aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen the health sector by ensuring that critical human resources receive the needed support throughout their training,” it added.

The Ministry further emphasised its commitment to working closely with nursing institutions to ensure the continued delivery of quality healthcare education across the country.

It also extended appreciation to the president for fulfilling his promise to the nurses, as well as all other stakeholders involved in facilitating the timely release and distribution of the funds.
