Manhunt After 3 Killed, 4 Injured at Homowo Festival

A manhunt has been launched after a shooting incident at the climax of Homowo Festival in Anyaa and Sowutuom, which claimed three lives on Saturday.
According to the police, the violence followed misunderstandings between followers of two rival chiefs.
The police, in a statement, confirmed that there was a gun battle between the factions.
“The situation escalated when some attendees attempted to leave the festival ground, resulting in further attacks at Olebu.”
The three deceased persons were identified as Abubakar Ramadan Sarba, Theopehilus Nii Amu Kwadjan and Joseph Shaibu Doodo.
Their remains have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for autopsy and preservation.
Meanwhile, four others who sustained injuries were Enoch Amevor, Samuel Adjei, Nathaniel Doku, and Frederick Lartey, who are receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and Ridge Hospital.
The police noted that security had been reinforced in the affected areas with the deployment of officers.
It also encouraged traditional authorities to adhere to agreed security protocols to safeguard lives and properties during festivals.
