Member of Parliament for Effiduase-Asokore, Hon. Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie has called on the new Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin to be guided by his 28 years worth of experience to to excel in his tenure of office.

Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin was elected as the Speaker of the eight Parliament in the fourth republic on the eve of the swearing-in of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.

Many have lauded the Eight Parliament of the 4th republic for electing Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin following his astronomical experience and how brainy he is during his days as a parliamentarian.

The former Health Minister is touted as a fair-minded gentleman’s-gentleman who will ensure that Parliament finally becomes alive to its oversight-responsibilities, and effectively checks both the executive and judicial arms, of government, whiles ensuring, as a patriotic who loves his nation passionately, that grid-lock never holds back the nation-building-process, under any circumstances.

When the lawmaker for Effiduase-Asokore was quizzed about his position of the new Speaker of Parliament by George Opoku Mensah (Agudey) he said, ” Hon. Bagbin has got rich and vast experience before ascending to this envious position as a former parliamentarian and I believe he will be guided by that to excel.”

He continued that, ” I don’t expect him to be so much gravitated to his party discharge his duties unfairly. He is a fine gentleman whose work thus far, is conspicuous for us all, he shouldn’t soil it at the end of the day.”

Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin (born 24 September 1957) was the Minister for Health in the Ghana government from January 2012[3] until February 2013 when Hanny-Sherry Ayittey took over the position. He served as the Member of Parliament for Nadowli West constituency in the Upper West Region of Ghana in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th parliaments of the 4th republic of Ghana.
