SIC Life Insurance Impresses Asantehene With Varied Operations
The Chief Executive Officer of SIC Insurance Company, Solomon Twum Barimah, has impressed the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, with major reforms he is spearheading at the company.
During a courtesy call for his introduction to His Majesty on July 18, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace, Mr Twum provided a briefing about the new reforms.
“We have varied our operations. Now we are focused on expanding businesses and wooing them to patronise our services. We will no long just invest in treasury bills and other investment portfolios for returns. Now we have collaborated with banks so that they offer some of our investments as loans to businesses who seek to expand then we insure such businesses.”
He also talked about collaborating with tertiary institutions to establish infrastructure for which the company will insure. With this, he said, SIC had the Sunyani Technical University and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on its radar.
He said they are also focused on enhancing advocacy for parents to insure the future of their children against unforeseen circumstances.
“Most often when a parent dies, the burden of his/her children become a burden to other family members. We intend to reduce this burden so we will sensitise everyone particularly traders to protect the future of their children for situations such as death.”
With this, they are targeting market women, traditional authorities and others.
Donation
The company also donated ¢100,000 towards the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF).
Mr Twum said it formed part of their corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Applaud
The Asantehene applauded the company and its Management for the review, saying it will help enhance the growth of small scale businesses and scale up the country’s development.
His Majesty further stated that interest will be built in their packages if they are made attractive to the public.
“Make good packages to entice the public. Offer better premium and customers services.”
The King assured them of his prayers as he expressed confidence in the new leadership.
