SHS Freshers Will Begin Classes On Feb 27
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified the reporting date for first-year students in Senior High Schools (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) schools.
Just as on the 2023 academic calendar, the students will report to their schools on February 20, 2023, to undertake the registration process and orientation, a brief notice from the GES said.
“Reporting Date for Form One student is 20th February 2023. The one-week period is for registration and Orientation.”
Meanwhile, academic activities will begin on February 27, 2023.
This comes after the school placement for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates were released on February 15, 2023.
At a press conference, the Director-General of the GES, Dr Eric Nkansah said out of the 547,329 registered candidates, 538,399 qualified to be placed.
He said 372,780 representing 69.24% of qualified candidates have been automatically placed in at least one of their choices.
The remaining 165,601 qualified candidates representing 30.76% could not be matched with any of their choices and must therefore undertake self-placement to select from the available schools.
