Seidu Adamu Confirms Alleged Assault By Black Stars Security Detail
US-based Ghanaian sports journalist, Seidu Adamu has confirmed multiple reports of alleged assault against him by a member of the Black Stars’ security personnel in the United States of America (USA).
In a statement on Monday, he identified his attacker as Aziz and characterized the alleged attack as an “unprovoked” one.
“I did not provoke anyone, neither did I say, act, or place myself in a situation that called for such barbaric acts against me.”
Recounting the incident, he said, “For me, it was a normal day to cover activities of the national team, but individually or collectively, the people around the Black Stars had a different idea.”
He suspects either the attack was premeditated “by the top hierarchy of the Ghana FA or a singular act of senseless Bravado from my attacker.”
Though Adamu said he did not sustain any major injury, he has been experiencing some excruciating pains in parts of his body where he sustained bruises.
He said he has already reported the incident to the Barclay Down Police Department in Charlotte, North Carolina but will pursue the case further with another report to the police in Maryland upon advice.
He also disclosed that “since the Leadership of the Ghana FA cannot guarantee my safety in and around the National Team, I have taken the hard decision to return to my base and not make the journey to Tennessee where the Black Stars are due to play the US Men’s National Team.”
The journalist was said to have been attacked on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Black Stars camping base in Charlotte ahead of their match against Mexico.
