Sam Jonah, Kwame Pianim, Kwabena Duffuor, Togbe Afede XIV Named Among PAGE Members

Industrialist Sir Samuel Esson Jonah, Economist and Private Sector Leader Kwame Pianim, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana Kwabena Duffuor and Economist and Private Sector Leader Togbe Afede XIV have been appointed members of a high-level advisory body on the economy.
The Committee is chaired by President John Dramani Mahama and has on board Vice President Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.
Members of PAGE were drawn from academia, public service, and the private sector.
A statement issued on January 15, 2026, said this is in furtherance of the restoration of macroeconomic stability, strengthening fiscal sustainability, and accelerating inclusive and job-rich economic growth.
The government said PAGE’s establishment reflects the President’s resolve to draw on deep national and international expertise to support sound economic governance, strategic policy coordination, and evidence-based decision-making to navigate current economic challenges and position Ghana for sustained growth and resilience.
These will be anchored on the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, and the broader Reset Agenda.
The Group shall report directly to the President and shall submit advisory memoranda and briefs as and when requested by the President, including periodic strategic reviews.
Other members of the Committee include Mr. Ishmael Yamson, Private Sector Leader; Ms. Nana Oye Mansa Yeboaa, Former Deputy Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry; Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, Economist, Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and Former Minister for Finance; and Mr. Ato Brown, Former World Bank Infrastructure Specialist and Agribusiness Investor.
The rest are Dr. Henry A. Kofi Wampah, Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana; Ms. Abena Amoah, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Stock Exchange; Prof. Priscilla Twumasi Baffour, University Professor and Academic Researcher; and Prof. Patience Aseweh Abor, Ph.D., University Professor and Academic Researcher.
The PAGE will:
a. Provide strategic counsel on macroeconomic management, fiscal consolidation, debt sustainability, and coherence between fiscal and monetary policy;
b. Advise on structural transformation, industrial development, competitiveness, and export-led growth strategies;
c. Offer guidance on sectoral development, private-sector expansion, investment mobilisation, and sustainable job creation.
d. Support the design, sequencing, and implementation of the 24-Hour Economy, the Accelerated Export Development Programme, and national productivity-enhancing reforms;
e. Conduct periodic assessments of Ghana’s economic performance and propose policy adjustments or corrective measures where necessary;
f. Contribute expert input to Ghana’s economic negotiations, engagements, and partnerships with bilateral and multilateral development partners, international financial institutions, and investors.
