Fifty Ghanaian children battling heart diseases have been offered fully-funded surgeries by Rotary International, the Governor of Rotary District 9104, Mr David Osei Amankwah Junior announced during the District’s maiden conference in Kumasi.
According to him, the surgery is being funded by the Past Rotary International President, Shekhar Mehta.
“One of the most important projects we are embarking on is an offer of heart surgery for children with heart challenges. Past Rotary International President, Shekhar Mehta is offering 50 children with heart diseases to go to India for surgeries,” he said as he rendered accounts about his stewardship on April 12, 2024.
The 50 patients, he said, were selected from across the country.
“We made the point to contact hospitals all over Ghana. We contacted Komfo Anokye, those in Tamale and Accra picking up all the patients from the regions to take advantage of the project.”
He also disclosed the first batch of the 50 would leave the country for India next week all things being equal.
“It took a while to get all the approvals but I can say that we are just about to send the first batch to India probably next week.”
