Recap of Otumfuo Foundation Projects In 2024

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF), the non-governmental organization of the Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II like in previous years worked tirelessly to bring smiles to deprived communities, dejected children and make lives better.

It provided some essential humanitarian services to the underprivileged through some countless projects done either single-handedly or in collaboration with key partners.

Below is a recap of all projects it undertook in the course of 2024:
[JANUARY]
Otumfuo Osei Tutu Il Foundation in partnership with the Anglogold Ashanti distributed 47, 825 NaCCA-approved Science and ICT textbooks to all basic schools in and around Obuasi.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu Il Foundation trained and prepared 22 delegates from Ashanti to take part in the National Spelling Bee contest. At the end of the contest, Abena Kessewaa Kwafo from KNUST Basic School made it to the top 3 National Spellers for the 2024 Spelling Bee competition and represented Ghana at the Scripps National Spelling Bee held in the USA this year.

[FEBRUARY]
Otumfuo Foundation took part in the activities in the 150 Years Sagrenti War Symposium and Book Launch as well as the Kuntunkuni Durbar.

[MARCH]
The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation in partnership with Harambee International Development in Virginia, USA commissioned a borehole for Trede R/C Basic School in Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region.

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in partnership with Newmont commissioned and handed over an Artificial Intelligence (Al) Youth Centre to the chief and people of Wioso in the Ahafo-Ano South West in the Ashanti Region.

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation is putting up a 600-bed capacity Girls’ dormitory block for the Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School (SEWASS) at Sefwi Wiawso, the Western North Regional Capital. As a result, the Foundation together with its Board Chairman paid short visits to the project site to assess the level of work done.

Students sponsored by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu lI Foundation to go through the World Universities Service of Canada (WUSC) programme “Invest In Her” graduate from the Akenten Appiah Minka University of Skills, Training and Entrepreneural Development (AAMUSTED), Kumasi Technical Institute, Suame Technical Institute, Anointed Electronical Institute on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

•They graduated with certificates in Computer Hardware, Networking and Programming, Auto Mechanics, Heavy-duty Operation, ICT, Electronics, Welding and Fabrication among other causes.

[APRIL]
On April 6, the 2024 Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge (OCRC), the Silver Jubilee Edition, started with Manso Adubea in the Amansie West district as the focal point.

The Otumfuo-Smile Dental Outreach began their activities this year at the Manso Antoakrom also in the Amansie West District.

The Otumfuo Foundation took part in the Grand opening of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall inside the Manhyia Palace.

The Otumfuo-Smile Dental Outreach embarked on an Oral and Dental Outreach programme at Prempeh College.

The activities included Oral Education, Screening, Scaling, Polishing, Extraction and Filling.

As part of the “Otumfuo Silver Jubilee Day of Education”, the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation made a presentation of GHC25,000.00 as sponsorship to the Robotic Team of Prempeh College ahead of their trip to the United States for the International Robotic Championship.

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation donated GHC135,000.00 ($10,000.00) to Abena Kessewa Kwaffo, a 13-year-old KNUST Junior High School Student who emerged as the 2nd Runner Up in this year’s National Spelling Bee competition to compete in this years Scripps National Spelling Bee in the USA.

The Otumfuo Silver Jubilee Education Day celebration featured the Otumfuo Recipient for Higher Learning, comprising scholars from various tertiary institutions, who benefited from a sponsorship package of GHC100,000 to support their education.

The Otumfuo-Smile Dental Outreach continued their dental activities at the SOS Children’s Home in the Asokore Mampong Municipal to take the children through Oral and Dental Hygiene exercises.

Her Royal Highness, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, the wife of Asantehene, on Saturday, 27th April 2024, commissioned an ultra-modern maternity block for Manhyia Government Hospital in Kumasi.

The Foundation in partnership with the Joberg Foundation constructed the edifice in commemoration of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Silver Jubilee.

[MAY]
The Otumfuo Foundation took part in the reopening of the Manhyia Palace Museum on May 1.

The Foundation and Newmont Gold Africa commissioned the second Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (Al Smart Lab) at Kona D/A Basic School in the Sekyere South District of the Ashanti Region.

On May 7, at the King’s Birthday dinner, the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation under the distinguished leadership of the Board Chairman, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie Adjei Woahene, Otumfuo Hiahene and Board Members, presented a bust to honour the Founder and Life Patron, His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to celebrate his exemplary leadership as our King and father.

The Foundation partnered with Ambassador Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee, the Assistant United Nations Secretary-General for Africa to commission a brand new Library at Akuse, near Ohwim, in the Kumasi Metropolis.

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, led by its Board Chairman, joined the Asante Professionals Club, APC-USA, to commission a newly renovated Children’s Block inside the Manhyia Government Hospital in honour of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of His Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.

The Otumfuo Foundation was present at the Akwasidae Kese Festival which climaxed the King’s 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Manhyia Palace.

The Otumfuo-Smile Dental Outreach embarked on a four-day outing at the Kumawu Govemment Hospital in the Sekyere Kumawu District. The project schedule ran from May 20 to May 23, 2024.

Otumfuo-AgroEcom Mobile Learning Project embarked on its second outreach of the year at Sekyere East District and the Asante-Akyem North Municipal.

[JUNE]
In June, the Otumfuo Foundation organized a tree-planting exercise dubbed “Planting with Royalty” Silver Jubilee Edition with Nananom of the Kumasi Traditional Council.

The Otumfuo-Smile Dental Outreach embarked on a four-day outing at Fomena in the Adansi North District. The outreach took place from June 11 to June 14.

The Otumfuo-Smiles Dental Outreach was at New Sawereso in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region to embark on a dental exercise. The event took place from the 24th to the 27th of June.

[AUGUST]
The Otumfuo Foundation organized the Silver Jubilee Health Fair at the Manhyia Palace on Sunday, 18th August.

The knockout stage of the Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge started on Monday, August 26 at the CCB Auditorium, KNUST.

On the 29th, Otumfuo Hiahene visited Sefwi Wiawso to inspect the construction of the 3-storey girls dormitory block at the Sefwi Wiawso SHS (SEWASS).

[SEPTEMBER]
The Otumfuo Foundation in partnership with Ghana Gas cut sod for the construction of four-unit bedroom staff quarters at St. Louis SHS.

The Grand Finale of the Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge took place at the Manhyia Palace. In the end, Francis Osei Boamah from Boamang won the competition with Maame Twumwaa Antwi Baffuor from Feyiase taking the 1st runner-up, Twedie’s Akua Amankwaa went home as the second runner-up, while Mampong very own Freda Mensah Acheampong and Mankranso’s Salamatu Issah took the 3rd and 4th runner-up positions respectively.

Otumfuo Hiahene embarked on a routine monitoring exercise on Wednesday, 25th September 2024, to inspect and monitor the progress of the ongoing construction of the Sefwi Wiawso SHS girls dormitory.

[OCTOBER]
The Otumfuo Osei Tutu Il Foundation in partnership with the Anglogold Ashanti distributed 12,090 Career Technology for JHS Teaching and Learning Materials (Graph Board and Geometric Sets) textbooks to schools in and around Obuasi from 1st to 4th October 2024.

The Otumfuo-AgroEcom Mobile Learning Project commenced its fourth quarter outreach to Soko, Kyekyewere, Tetrem and Akrofonso-these are hard-to-reach communities in the Afigya Kwabre North and Sekyere South Districts-to take the children through ICT and English reading.

On October 11, 2024, the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II led by its Board Chairman, Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, joined other dignitaries to cut sod for the construction of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu Il Comprehensive Cancer Centre of Excellence at Ejisu Kwaso in the Ejisu Municipality.

The Foundation visited Sefwi Wiawso to inspect the 600-bed girls’ dormitory block currently under construction at the Sefwi Wiawso SHS.

[NOVEMBER]
On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, The Otumfuo-Smiles Dental Outreach under the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation embarked on an outreach at the Juaso M/A Model School in Juaso, the Asante-Akyem South Municipal capital.

The Otumfuo-Smiles Dental Outreach, embarked on an outreach to the Ahenema Kokoben cluster of schools in the Atwima Kwanwoma District on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

The Otumfuo Foundation in partnership with Ghana Gas Company, cut sod for the construction of an ultramodern ICT centre for Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) in the Ashanti Region.

The Otumfuo Foundation took part in the Centenary Celebration of the Return of King Prempeh I symposium at the Manhyia Palace.

The Foundation journeyed to Sefwi Wiawso to inspect the ongoing 600-bed girls’ dormitory under construction.

The Otumfuo-Smiles Dental Outreach on Thursday, November 28, 2024, embarked on an outreach at Drobonso, the Sekyere Afram Plains capital.

[DECEMBER]
The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation in partnership with First Atlantic Bank cut sod for the redevelopment of the Kumasi Children’s Park on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Amakom.

On Friday, December 13, 2024, the Foundation together with Ghana National Gas inspected the teachers’ bungalow currently under construction at the St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi.

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation and Ghana National Gas on Friday, December 13, 2024, inspected the ultramodern ICT centre currently under construction at the Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School in the Ashanti Region.

On Thursday, December 19, the Otumfuo-Smiles Dental Outreach organized a dental exercise inside the COCOBOD complex in Adum, Kumasi, having embarked on the same outreach at Afrancho in the Afigya Kwabre South Municipal on Tuesday, December 17.
