Prof Ernest Kofi Davis Appointed GES Boss

The Provost of the College of Education Studies at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof Ernest Kofi Davis, has been appointed the acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

His appointment took effect on January 27, 2025.

This was confirmed in a welcome message by the GES on Monday.


Prof Kofi Davis replaces Dr Eric Nkansah whose appointment was revoked by President John Dramani Mahama.

The Senior Member of the Institute of Education at the UCC holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics Education from Monash University.

He is a member of the Ghana Mathematics Society, Mathematics Association of Ghana (MAG), World Education Research Association (WERA), Ghana Education Research Association (GERA-Ghana), Southern African Association of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (SAARMSTE) and others.
