“Presidents Should Take Care Of Their Wives”- Hannah Bissiw

National Women’s Organizer for the National Democratic Congress, Hannah Bissiw has stated that the refund of monies paid to the First and Second ladies since their assumption of office is in the right direction.
In an interview with a radio station, she said, the President and his vice should take care of their wives because that is their responsibility as husbands.
“The presidency was pushing for it to be normalized so that we will take care of their wives… The presidents should take care of their wives and the vice presidents should take care of their wives, it is their responsibility as husbands. “
“Any money that you pay to anybody that is not backed by law is illegal and so if they are returning it, it’s in the right direction. “
“First ladies are to set up their foundations, support their husbands. The foundations will go a long way to support the vulnerable and to push for a better Ghana for all of us”, she stressed.
The First and Second Ladies announced their decision to refund monies paid to them since they assumed their offices after there was a public outcry over the emoluments committee recommendation to normalize the quarterly allowances they received.
Critics said it was unconstitutional since the two do not fall under the Article 71 office holders.
According to a letter addressed to the Chief of Staff sighted by opemsuo.com, the payment has already been done by the First lady.
