President Mahama Officially Ends Tenure of Statutory Board Members
The office of President John Dramani Mahama has notified the Board of Directors of various corporations, commissions and Councils of the end of their tenure.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the President, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, reminded such individuals that their tenure ended with that of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“In accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), all members of statutory boards, Corporations, Commissions and councils appointed by the former President or a former Minister of State ceased to hold office on 7th January 2025, following the assumption of office of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.”
It however noted that it excludes commissions that are independent constitutional creations.
Meanwhile, it said a new board of directors would be appointed in due course for affected boards, commissions, councils and statutory corporations. They will be reconstituted according to their respective enabling laws.
It added, “The President takes this opportunity to thank all affected members for their service and wishes them well in their future endeavours.
“The management of these bodies are directed, until further notice, to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before taking any major decisions.”
