President Commissions ¢6.2M Shoe Factory
President Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has commissioned a ¢6.2 million shoes manufacturing company in the Akuapem North District of the Eastern Region.
The company, Shoe Fabriek Limited, falls under the Government’s 1-District 1-Factory flagship program and produces all manner of shoes including boots, casual shoes for all, and shoes for school.
It can produce 800 quality pairs of shoes daily and has employed one hundred and forty-four (144) in the district to reduce rural-urban migration.
According to President Akufo-Addo, 278 1D1F projects are at various stages of implementation under the 1D1F Initiative, as of September 2021. Out of which, 104 are currently in operation, 150 are under construction and 24 are at the mobilization stage.
He noted that one hundred and sixty-five (165) out of the 278 are new projects representing 60% whilst 113 companies are existing projects being supported, representing 40%.
