Prepare For Central Region Trip; Asantehene to Asanteman

The Occupant of the Golden Stool, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reminded and charged all the paramountcies of Asanteman to start preparations towards a trip to the Central Region next week for the Oguaa Fetu Festival of the Oguaa Traditional Council.

The King and his people at the humble invitation of the Paramount Chief of the Area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, will grace this year’s festival.

The conferment of His Majesty with an Honourary Doctorate Degree by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) is also expected to take place within this window.

“On September 5, I will be conferred with a University of Cape Coast (UCC) Honourary Doctorate Degree and on September 7 we will attend the festival,” he said during an Asanteman Council meeting on August 26, 2024.
Otumfuo Kyeame Baffour Kantankrankyi informed Nananom that buses will be made available at the forecourts of the Manhyia Palace to convey those who may have challenges with mobility to and fro.

Invitation
It may be recalled that a high-powered delegation led by Oguaa Sanaahene Nana Kweku-Yensu was sent by Osabarima on Thursday, July 4, 2024, to convey a formal invitation for the Asantehene to grace the event as the Guest of Honour.

The delegation was received by the Asanteman Council who subsequently gave His Majesty the nod to grace the occasion.

This will be the 60th edition of the festival- observed in the first week of September- and will mark the 25th enstoolment anniversary celebration of the Paramount Chief of Oguaa.

It is yet another occasion for the Asantehene to reinforce and enhance relations with Fantes in the country as he has over the years consciously and frantically forged a stronger alliance with different ethnic groups.

In 2022, Otumfuo joined the Hogbetsotso Festival in the Volta Region and recently honoured an invitation to a durbar by the Ga Mantse, Nii Teiko Tsuru II.
