Poverty Delayed me – Phrimpong
In a candid interview with Mr. Black on the popular radio show Kumasefie on July 1, fast-rising Ghanaian rapper, Phrimpong, delved into the underlying inspiration behind his hit song “Ohia,” featuring renowned artiste Shatta Wale and produced by Khendi Beatz.
Phrimpong opened up about the deeply personal meaning behind the track, highlighting its connection to his own life as well as that of Shatta Wale and countless others who have faced similar struggles.
According to him, poverty often acts as a significant roadblock, delaying the realization of dreams and aspirations for many individuals.
Reflecting on his own experiences, Phrimpong shared that there were numerous things he wanted to accomplish in his career but lacked the financial resources to make them a reality.
“It’s disheartening when you have big dreams and ambitions but find yourself held back by financial constraints,” Phrimpong explained. “If I had the necessary funds, there are so many things I would have accomplished by now. Unfortunately, poverty has hindered my progress in various ways.”
In a testament to the universality of such struggles, Phrimpong emphasized his decision to collaborate with Shatta Wale on the track. He believed that the renowned artist shared a similar story of triumph over adversity, making him the perfect collaborator to help convey the message of the song.
