Pope Francis’ Rep In Ghana Gifts Asantehene Holy Family, Rosaries and Cross
Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, His Excellency Julien Kabore on his maiden visit to the Manhyia Palace brought along loads of catholic prayer objects as gifts for the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Accompanied by the Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi, Most Reverend Gabriel Justice Anokye, he presented 100 rosaries, a Christian cross, and the Holy Family to the Asante royal household.
The Catholic leader with two decades of Vatican diplomatic experience was formally introduced to the Monarch in Kumasi on Friday, January 17, 2025.
He visited the Palace on the sidelines of his invitation to Kumasi by the Metropolitan Archbishop and is expected to attend the grand Akwasidae Festival scheduled for January 19, 2025.
In his remarks, he expressed his elation to be in the country’s second capital and announced plans to make all calibre of persons feel the love the Catholic Church exudes.
“Upon the invitation of the archbishop of Kumasi. The visit is to express the closeness and love we uphold for the church here. To us, we presume the church is not concerned only about the Catholics here and therefore my presence here is to show love and hope to the church but also the King and all the people.”
H.E Kabore’s appointment took effect in October 2024 succeeding Archbishop Henryk Mieczysław Jagodziński.

Born in Zorgho, Burkina Faso, on June 18, 1968, Julien Kaboré was ordained a priest at the age of 27 on July 8, 1995, for the diocese of Koupéla.
After studying at the Ecclesiastical Academy — which trains the staff of nunciatures — he joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See on July 1, 2004.
The priest, who speaks French, English, Italian, and Spanish, has worked in papal representations in Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Costa Rica, Korea, Croatia, Trinidad and Tobago, the Philippines, and Ireland.
