Police Service Decentralises Criminal Clearance Service
Persons who require information about a filed criminal case no longer need to travel to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service in the Greater Accra Region to access it.
This is because the Police Service has decentralised criminal clearance services in the country.
This service will be available at the 25 Police regions effective Monday, May 22.
It is part of the Ghana Police Service’s transformational agenda to improve the delivery of policing services to the public.
“The decentralisation of the criminal clearance process is expected to make the service more accessible and convenient for individuals across the country, thereby bringing another policing service closer to the doorstep of the public,” it explained in a statement.
As defined by Law Insider, police clearance is a document from a state, territorial, federal or foreign government which identifies information, regarding an individual concerning an arrest which resulted in a filed criminal case.
