Police Rescue Abducted Kubease Chief

The police have rescued Nana Ottupre Kwagyan, the chief of Kubease, a suburb of Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region.

The traditional ruler was rescued after being abducted from his home in the early hours of Monday, October 16, 2023.

A son of the chief who took to social media to seek help in finding his father said some men wielding machetes and sticks stormed their residence to abduct him.

According to the account, the incident was reported to the Abetifi Police, however, they were told nothing could be done to help them.

But a statement from the Police on Monday afternoon said the man had been rescued.

“The Police have rescued one Nana Ottupre Kwagyan, the chief of Kubease, a suburb of Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region who was allegedly kidnapped by some unknown men.
Preliminary Police report has indicated that the alleged victim, in the early morning of today Monday, 16th October 2023, was forcefully taken from his house by some six (6) persons to an unknown location.”

The police said the victim was rescued at Abene and is currently safe.

Meanwhile, they said investigations are ongoing to get the perpetrators arrested.
