Police Intercept Two Vehicles Carrying 1,613 Parcels of Suspected Narcotic Drugs

The police have busted two vehicles carrying 1,613 parcels of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs along the Akosombo-Tema road.
According to a statement by the Ghana Police Service, the interception took place under a well-coordinated operation following an intelligence received on January 10, 2026.
The vehicles were being transported from the Volta Region toward Tema.
The police reported that around 12:45 a.m. on January 11, 2026, a white Toyota Highlander with registration number GS 2013-13 and a black Mitsubishi Pajero with registration number GC 400-22, driven by suspects Isaac Odoi, 33, and Kwame Mani, 39, were intercepted.
A search led to the discovery of several compressed yellow-wrapped parcels suspected to be narcotic drugs, according to the police.
The Mitsubishi Pajero contained a total of 872 parcels, while 741 parcels were found in the Toyota Highlander.
“The suspects are currently in Police custody, assisting with investigations. Samples of the substances will be sent to the Forensic Crime Laboratory for testing, and searches will be conducted at the suspects’ places of residence. The Police are also preparing to process the suspects for court.”
The police used the occasion to express their commitment to intensifying operations against drug trafficking and other crimes.
It added, “We encourage the public to continue sharing credible information to support our security efforts and help keep our communities safe.”
