Police Engage NPP Officials Over Nov 4 Election
The police have held a meeting with the Presidential Election Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well as representatives of candidates in the election over their upcoming Primary.
In a brief statement, the Police Service said the meeting focused on security arrangements to ensure the safety of all stakeholders.
“Discussions during the meeting centred on the safety of the flagbearer hopefuls, supporters, and the general public as well as the security of the entire electoral process.”
At the meeting held on Monday, October 9, 2023, the police also “pledged their commitment to providing adequate security, resources, and intelligence to ensure law and order during the entire period”.
The governing NPP will be holding their Presidential Primary to elect a flagbearer for the 2024 General Elections.
The Party’s November 4 final presidential primary will be contested by Mahamudu Bawumia, Ken Agyapong, Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai Nimoh.
The election was supposed to have five candidates following their Super Delegates Conference which trimmed the number of aspirants from ten, however, one aspirant, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen withdrew in September over concerns of intimidation and manipulation of election results and subsequently forfeited his membership as an NPP member.
