Pay Our Allowances Now Or Face Our Wrath: Nursing Trainees To Gov’t
The Ghana Nursing-Midwifery Trainees’ Association on Thursday, July 14, 2022, in a press conference, called on Government to pay their allowances before the end of July, 2020, which is in eleven months of arrears, or face their wrath.
Addressing the media in Kumasi, the National Vice President of the Association, Shadrack Adu Gyamfi disclosed that the last time they received allowance was in June, 2021.
According to him, the Government is supposed to pay ten months of Nursing training allowance to cover the whole year but they are not receiving allowance since June 2021.
He yelled over the skyrocketing concerning their school fees and 2019, and 2020 batch of Nursing and Midwives unemployment.
In addition, Adu Gyamfi disclosed that they have engaged with the Government’s key stakeholders concerning their sector on so many occasions over the unpaid allowances but no positive results availed.
He stated that if the Government refused to address their demands on time they have other no option than to hit the street.
Furthermore, they will boycott their clinical services as part of their training in various hospitals, clinics, and health centers.
Finally, they dared the Government not to cancel the Nursing Training allowance policy as far as Government’s intention seeking financial assistance from International Monetary Fund(IMF) is concerned.
