Owusu Aduomi Forgives and Reconciles with NPP
Three-time disgruntled Member of Parliament for Ejisu Constituency, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi has forgiven and reconciled with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) after a row earlier this year.
The reconciliation was announced by the Ashanti Regional NPP Council of Elders after a meeting with him on Monday.
A part of a statement issued by the Elders read, “The Ashanti Regional NPP Council of Elders at its meeting on Monday 5th August, 2024, brokered a reconciliation with Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a member of the Party and former Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways who stood as an Independent Candidate during the Ejisu By-Election.”
According to the Council, the conversation was built on frank and open discussions of issues that were raised by the unsuccessful independent candidate in the Ejisu By-election.
“In a meeting characterised by frank and open discussions of issues that have happened in the past, Owusu Aduomi; announced to the delight of the members of the Council of Elders that, he has put everything behind him and went on to announce his return to the party unconditionally. He emphasised that his umbilical cord is planted in NPP and that the NPP runs through the veins of his blood.”
Th former lawmaker is also willing to convince all supporters who left with him to rejoin the party.
The Council has since welcomed the decision and expressed appreciation for it.
Meanwhile, the party has urged the larger family of NPP to also embrace and welcome his return with open arms.
Background
Aduomi, defied the NPP’s rules to run independent in a by-election for the Ejisu Constituency after he expressed his dissatisfaction with the existing delegates’ roll and unsuccessfully called for a review.
He was accused of defecting to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) after he received their full endorsement. He however lost the election.
