Otumfuo’s Nkosuohene Tours Key Kumasi Projects
Nana Osei Kwame Kyeretwie, the Nkosuohene of Asanteman and representative of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, embarked on a thorough tour of various development projects across Greater Kumasi. The purpose of the tour was to assess the progress of ongoing initiatives in the region.
Speaking about the objective of the tour on Opemsuo Radio’s Nkwantannanso with George Adjei on August 9, Nkosuohene stated, “Otumfuo sent me to check up on projects. I went to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to inspect the progress of the maternity ward, specifically the Mother’s and Children’s Ward.”
He reported that the 560-bed maternity ward project has reached the halfway mark, with roughly 50% of the work completed. He acknowledged the challenges contractors often face with adhering to timelines but expressed optimism in their dedication to the task at hand.
Continuing the inspection, he moved on to Central Market, focusing on Phase 2 developments. He observed that a significant portion of the area has been designated as a car park, with only a limited space allocated for stores.
Nana Kyeretwie’s assessment extended to Kumasi International Airport, where he observed ongoing construction efforts.
He emphasized the importance of government ensuring a consistent and reliable source of funding for the projects to prevent any disruptions in the construction timeline.
The Otumfuo Nkosuohene further said stated, “This is just the beginning. I will continue my tour to meet with other chiefs and find out what is happening in their respective areas.”
Accompanied by the Zongo Nkosuohene and several sub-chiefs, the inspection aimed to comprehensively gauge the ongoing transformations within the Kumasi Metropolis.
The Nksuohene’s inspection tour underscores the commitment of the Asanteman traditional leadership to monitor and support the development projects within the region. It also highlights the collaborative efforts between traditional authorities and government initiatives aimed at enhancing the infrastructural landscape of Asanteman.
