Otumfuo: Cocoa Road Is Not Your Responsibility, Equip Extension Officers
Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised the Cocoa Marketing Board (CMB) to shift their attention from cocoa roads projects because it is not their responsibility.
Although the projects lead to the construction of roads leading to cocoa farms, they do not fall under their jurisdiction for much attention and resources to be given.
“Certain matters must not be the focus in the line of cocoa business.
Supervision of extension officers and equipping them is essential including practicing proper farm management”, he said.
Otumfuo stressed that they must make use of their expertise to bring forth advancement.
At the Manhyia Palace on visit were: Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, the Deputy Minister for Agriculture and other Members of the Cocoa Marketing Board (CMB).
The Asantehene was full of praise for the Cocoa Farmers Pension Scheme stressing that “if planned well, will help the elderly during retirement”.
The Asantehene said, “making farming attractive for the youth is important, currently literates are engaged with it more, so focus on that too”
