Otumfuo Admits Bechemhene’s Oath of Allegiance

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has admitted the oath of allegiance of Nana Asiibuo Osei Bonsu III, Bechemhene.
Admitting it, Otumfuo urged him to emulate the persona of his predecessor, Nana Fosu Gyeabour Akoto.
“Your predecessor was always present when Asanteman met. He showed up even when he was sick. He served well, was humble and respectful.”

The Asantehene discouraged him against arrogance, cheating and intimidation.
“When you humble yourself, your people will elevate you.”
Nana Bonsu was also advised to cause unity at the family level, offering the family head the requisite reverence.

Another virtue Otumfuo stressed was patience, saying, “Lead with patience and be vigilant in everything you do.”
“I, Asiibour Osei Bonsu III, will continue the good service of my predecessors to Asanteman and the Golden Stool. Except in sickness, I will be at your disposal at all material times. I will serve you with truth and firmness; if I go against this, I violate the Great Oath.”
