Otto Addo Vows to Only Work with Dedicated Players as Black Stars Eye World Cup Glory

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has made it clear that he will only work with dedicated and challenging players who will push him and the entire team to greater heights, believing such personalities are key to building a much stronger squad.
The 50-year-old finds himself in a very busy period right now, closely tracking numerous Ghanaian footballers across Europe and beyond as he works tirelessly to assemble the best possible group for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
Ghana have been drawn in a tough Group L alongside 1966 world champions England, 2018 finalists Croatia, and Panama, setting up what promises to be a very herculean qualifying battle for the four-time African champions.
The Black Stars have endured painful group stage exits in their last two World Cup appearances and are fully determined this time to go beyond the first round, with ambitions of matching or even surpassing their historic quarter-final run in 2010.
In a recent interview, the ex-Borussia Dortmund trainer spoke with real seriousness, indirectly sending a strong message to all potential invitees that they must show maximum determination and fight when called upon to wear the national colours.
“I like players who will challenge me, who are going to question me or who are angry when they lose, because I know these are the players we need to win games.”
The Black Stars are set to regroup next month for international friendlies against Austria and Germany in the March window, before facing Mexico in April, all as part of their serious preparations to hit the ground running ahead of the 2026 World Cup campaign.
