Otto Addo Permanently Takes Over Black Stars Job
Football Manager Otto Addo has now permanently taken over Ghana’s senior male national team after his departure from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
After temporarily taking over the Black Stars and overseeing some friendly matches in March 2024, he is now on a three-year contract.
He will supervise the team’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers slated for next month.
Otto will arrive in Ghana on Monday, May 27, 2024, after parting ways with Dortmund.
A statement released by the FA in Ghana on Monday said, “Black Stars head coach Otto Addo will arrive in Accra on Monday, March 27, 2024 to take charge of the team on full time basis.”
The Black Stars of Ghana will face Mali at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako on Thursday, June 6, 2024 and Central Africa Republic on June 10, 2024.
Meanwhile, the players will open camp on May 30, 2024, train at the University of Ghana Stadium for six-days before departing for Bamako.
Otto is yet to name his squad but he is expected to make a good impression with the team as he takes over for the second time after a not-so-good record the last time.
Ghana in their first qualifier against Madagascar won by a goal to nil while they lost to Comoros in Moroni by 1-0.
