ORAL Operational Cost Won’t Be Borne By Taxpayers- Ablakwa
The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency and Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced their operations will not be funded with taxes.
It comes as some persons had sought to know how their operations would be funded.
The team reached this resolution during their first meeting on December 18, 2024.
In a Facebook, Ablakwa announced, “The ORAL Team held its first meeting at 2pm today and has resolved to work gratis.”
They will not receive salaries, allowances, per-diems or fuel coupons, he noted, assuring that, “None of our activities will come at a cost to the taxpayer.”
President-elect John Dramani Mahama on December 18 unveiled a five-member committee tasked with recovering state revenue lost to corruption and holding perpetrators accountable when his administration begins on January 7.
The Committee, known as the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team, is headed by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency.
In a statement on December 18, 2024, the spokesperson of the Mahama transition team, Felix Ofosu Kwakye said this was in honour of promises made.
Other team members are Daniel Domelovo, Former Auditor-General, COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, Mr Martin Kpebu, a Private Legal Practitioner and Mr Raymond Archer, an Investigative Journalist.
