NSS Arrears Will Be Cleared Today- Osei Assibey
The Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Osei Assibey Antwi has announced efforts are underway to clear arrears owed personnel who recently brought their service to the country to an end.
According to him, the arrears will be cleared by the close of the day on Friday, December 8, 2023.
The personnel are owed two months’ arrears as well as outstanding debt resulting from the recent upward adjustments of their monthly allowances.
The delayed payment created concerns among the personnel who were reeling from the economic situation of the country, however, in a statement earlier in October, the former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Chief Executive urged personnel to exercise restraint.
On Thursday, he announced the release of funds for the payment covering January 2023 to May 2023.
The remaining debt including arrears for June 2023 and allowances for October 2023 would be paid subsequently, he noted.
“Management wishes to commend service personnel for their patience regarding the delayed payment of these allowances and wishes to assure them that everything possible is being done to have the rest of their allowances duly paid to them,” he added.
