NPP Presidential Aspirants Pledge Allegiance After Election
The four Presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have signed an undertaking to remain glued to the party after the final results of their Presidential Primary are released come November 4, 2023.
This was part of six agreements in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the November 4 2023, Presidential Primary election.
All four aspirants signed the document on Wednesday, November 2, 2023 during a meeting between the National Council of Elders and the aspirants as a testimony to their commitment towards democracy, unity and peace within the NPP.
Among the agreements, the four will remain with the party when the final results are released, avoid actions that will fight off cohesion and peace during and after the election and accept the results no matter the outcome.
“We undertake not to leave or resign from the NPP, regardless of the outcorne of the primary election. We shall remain active and dedicated members of the party.”
They also committed themselves to support the “chosen one”.
Persons who violate the agreement “will be subject to resolution with NPP’s established internal dispute resolution mechanisms in accordance with the party’s constitution and by-laws,” according to the MoU.
The NPP will hold the primary which is preferentially called the “showdown” on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, Hon Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon Osei Akoto, former Minister for Agriculture and Dr Francis Addai –Nimoh, the former Member of Parliament for Mampong are contesting for the flagbearership position.
