NPP Agona West Constituency Expel MP and 279 Others
The New Patriotic Party’s Agona West Constituency has expelled their Member of Parliament, Cynthia Morrison and 279 other members from the party.
Their expulsion stems from their allegiance to the party being questioned.
They have thus been indefinitely banned from holding themselves out as members, holding any position in the party, attending or participating in party activities or meetings and using party flags.
The MP contested as an independent candidate in the parliamentary election on December 7, 2024, which demonstrated a lack of allegiance to the party.
The 279 members of the party have also been accused of joining or declaring their support for a different political party, supporting an independent candidate in the just-ended election and continuously demonstrating a character against the NPP in every election.
This decision was made by the Expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting held on December 15.
The committee comprised Constituency officers, the Municipal Chief Executive, and Constituency Founding Members, Current and Former Council of Elders and Patrons, Constituency Disciplinary Committee members, and Electoral Area Coordinators of the party in Agona West.
