Nkoranzahemaa and Tredehemaa Introduced to Asantehene

Two newly enstooled female traditional leaders within the Asante realm have been introduced to the Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Oheneyere Yaa Sarpomaa III, Nkoranzahemaa and Nana Akua Adwubu Kete IV, Teredehemaa were officially presented to the Asantehene on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The introduction took place in turns at Sankorase at the Manhyia Palace prior to the commencement of a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting.

Otumfuo warmly welcomed them.

Nkoranza
The Paramount Chief of Nkoranza Traditional Council, Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, made the introduction of the 39-year-old banker who has been enstooled as the Nkoranzahemaa.

She succeeds Nana Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani Mmrosa II- whose burial rites were performed two months ago- her grandmother.

It will be recalled that while overseeing the selection of Nana Baffoe as the chief of Nkoranza in December 2024, the Asantehene recalled the late Queen’s wish to have her granddaughter enstooled as her successor.

His Majesty informed the Nkoranza stool elders how Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani Mmrosa II introduced to him her granddaughter years back as her successor.

“Let’s not forget that the Queen brought me her granddaughter to cater for her school. She told me she would be the heir to the stool when she is no longer alive… What should be done Abusuapanin?”

Trede
Nana Nuben Sra III, Tredehene, also introduced Nana Adwubi Kete IV as his mother per Asante customs and traditions.

The practising nurse in the United Kingdom (UK) is the eldest sister of the chief and succeeds the late Nana Adwubi Kete III, her mother.
