New Manhyia Auditorium Named After Otumfuo
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall will be the name of the new multipurpose auditorium constructed at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, the Chairman of the Planning Committee of Asantehene’s 25th Anniversary, Juabenhene Daasebre Otuo Serebuo has announced.
It was announced on March 11, 2024, during the second meeting of the Asanteman Council.
The Chairman stated that due to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s unparalleled leadership, the committee decided to request naming it after him.
“The facility was single-handedly constructed by Otumfuo and so we pleaded for his permission to have it named after himself. It will be a long-lasting legacy to his name.”
The magnificent and fully air-conditioned facility, he said, is three and half times the size of the 2,000-capacity Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Emphasizing the critical need for the facility, Juabenhene stated that the hall would enable traditional authorities to host important events at the Palace instead of renting venues elsewhere and would accommodate as many audiences as possible.
The facility which is already completed will be commissioned on March 25, 2024, he announced.
It will host some of the events slated for the 25th Anniversary of the King such as a Photo Exhibition and a dinner.
