NDC Institutes Full-Scale Probe into Alleged Ayawaso East Primaries Vote-buying

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says a full-scale investigation has commenced into alleged Vote-buying that characterised the Ayawaso East Primaries on Saturday.
Videos portrayed some delegates carrying TV sets as the primary was ongoing.
Condemning it, the General Secretary of the party, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said the attention of the national executives of the NDC had been drawn to the widespread incidents of inducement and vote buying allegedly perpetuated by some aspirants at the primaries.
“The party vehemently condemns these actions in no uncertain terms as they represent an affront to the values and principles of the party and the reset agenda the party is championing.”
“The party is immediately instituting a full-scale investigation into this matter and will take a swift
action against any candidate found culpable.”
The party further vowed that more drastic sanctions would be taken including possibly cancelling elections, when such incidents come to the attention of the party.
Meanwhile, Baba Jamal, the country’s High Commissioner to Nigeria has won the primary with 431 votes.
