NDC Has Best Economic Record- Kwakye Ofosu Boasts

The Spokesperson of the government, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has asserted that National Democratic Congress (NDC) governments have chalked the best economic performance in the Fourth Republic.
Outlining data of economic performance from 1999, he hailed his party.
“There are those who make hubris-laden claims of preternatural economic management ability but deliver the most disastrous outcomes in decades,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
According to him, the highest growth rate the country ever recorded was in 2011 under an NDC government at 14.4%.
He also stated that the lowest inflation rate of 2.9% was recorded in April 1999 under late and former President Jerry John Rawlings, while he postulated that the longest sustained single-digit inflation of 33 months was recorded from 2010 to 2012.
Other records he drew were the highest annual cedi appreciation of 40.7% against the dollar in 2025; the largest reserves of $ 13.8 billion as of end 2025, and; the highest import cover of 5.7 months as of end 2025.
It follows the release of the January 2026 Consumer Producer Index by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), showing a 3.8% inflation rate.
The reduction follows a 13-month consecutive month decline.
