NDC Disputes Bawumia’s 150 Factory Claim
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has discredited Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s assertion that the ruling government has put up more than 150 factories in the country since the assumption of office.
The vice President reportedly said only two factories were built during the eight-year reign of the NDC in power.
But according to the NDC, the claim is a “barefaced lie”.
In a press statement, the National Communication Officer of the opposition party, Sammy Gyamfi said established five state-owned factories and established a “plan for public-private partnerships and granted stimulus packages to 120 factories.
On the 150 factories claimed by the government, the opposition party said it was “palpable falsehood.”
“We must hasten to point out to the Vice President that if his so-called 150 factories claim relates to the government’s poorly-implemented 1D1F program, then he needs to educate himself and cure his own ignorance about the nature of their so-called 1D1F initiative. This is because, none of the said 1D1F factories, was actually built by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.”
According to Sammy Gyamfi, most of the factories belong to the private sector and already existed.
