National Day of Prayer Is Worthwhile- Akufo-Addo

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has endorsed the National Day of Prayer initiative instituted by President John Dramani Mahama.
According to him, the initiative is “worthwhile”.
“We have a lot to take part in and to commend the President for taking up this initiative. I want to congratulate all of you on taking this important assignment and devoting your energy to it. It’s all in the interest of our country and it’s a worthwhile initiative.”
H.E. Akufo-Addo, therefore, urged all well-meaning Ghanaians to embrace it as a positive development of Ghana.
The initiative was inaugurated on July 1, 2025, at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
The maiden event was held under the theme, “Reset, Reflect and Renew for National Prosperity,” bringing together citizens and leaders to unite in spiritual reflection and gratitude for the nation’s progress.
Speaking at the event, President Mahama said July 1 will not be remembered only as Republic Day but enshrined as the country’s National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving.
He took inspiration from 2 Chronicles 7:14 which states: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will heal their land.”
