National Cathedral: We Intend to Build Ecumenical Centre after Forensic Audit- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama says his government intends to build an ecumenical centre in Ghana once the ongoing forensic audit into the National Cathedral is concluded.
According to him, this will be done under a broad-based consultation with the Christian community.
“When that forensic audit is over, our intention is to have a broad-based consultation with the Christian community to see how we can build a place that is decent for us to worship and, apart from that, make it a centre where people can come in and find Christ.”
Condemning the whopping amount of money the previous government pumped into the Cathedral project, he affirmed his belief in such a project.
However, he stated that it must be done in consultation with all citizens and at a reasonable cost.
“All of us must decide how we want to do it, what the scope is and how much it should cost. I believe that at this age and time, $400 million to build a cathedral is excessive. Maybe some of the things are excessive.”
He said his intended project can host the National Day of Thanksgiving and Worship, where Ghanaians can all go and worship God and thank him for what he has done for them.
