NAIMOS Stops Ongoing Galamsey Activities at Bunsu Cocoa Research Centre

The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) task force says extensive illegal mining activities ongoing at Bunsu Cocoa Research Centre in the Eastern Region have been disrupted.

The task force stormed the site on Thursday morning to find galamsey activities ongoing within Section E Site 3 of the Cocoa Research Centre in the Fanteakwa South District.

It reported a mass destruction of cocoa farms.

Though it failed to arrest the perpetrators, the team seized two excavators and one bulldozer left behind by illegal miners.

“The illegal miners absconded upon sighting the vehicles of the NAIMOS Taskforce.”
