NACOC Arrests 72 Suspects after Dismantling Drug Dens

The Narcotic Control Commission (NACOC) says 72 suspects have been arrested after dismantling drug dens across the Eastern and Greater Accra Regions.

In what it calls “Operation White Ember,” the Commission conducted a series of intelligence-led raids this festive season.

The raid took place at Mamfe, Tutu, Madina Redco Flats, Zongo junction to the railway slums of Airport City, Tema Community 1, Teshie Nungua and at the various malls and beaches in the Capital.

Alongside the arrests, drugs were seized with the help of the NACOC K9 dogs, it reported.

“Beyond the arrests and the yellow tape, NACOC emphasises the human cost. NACOC believes the exhibits seized—ranging from ecstasy and methamphetamine to cannabis-laced alcohol—represent ‘thousands of lives saved from the brink of addiction’ this December.”

As part of the operation, officers conducted on-site public education, briefing residents on the dangers of drug abuse and the impact of narcotics on neighbourhood safety.

“The Commission will continue these raids in the coming days and months to ensure a sustained environment of security for all Ghanaians.”
