Music is Politics – DJ Slim

Daniel Gyan Kesse, widely known as DJ Slim, has said that music is politics and it projects a country’s culture globally.

According to him, music has become a powerful tool for cultural exchange, and Nigerians have effectively permeated every corner of the world with their rich cultural heritage through music.

“Music is politics; Nigeria has managed to invade various countries with their distinctive culture, spanning from food and dressing to other facets of life, all through music,” DJ Slim asserted in an interview on Opemsuo Radio’s Kumasefie with Mr Black on July 22 .

He highlighted the transformative impact of music on the global stage by referencing the achievements of Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie.

“When Sarkodie secured the prestigious BET Hip Hop award for Best International Flow, it transcended being a mere accolade. Instead, it served as a compelling message to the world, inviting them to explore the unique offerings of Ghana’s culture.”

“Sarkodie’s recognition not only garnered international attention for Ghana but also attracted renowned personalities to the country. For instance, Jay Z demonstrated his interest by acquiring a house in Ghana, comedian Michael Blackson invested in constructing a school, and actor Idris Elba has plans to establish a film studio within the nation,” he added.
